so this morning i was wondering what i was going to write about today. i then took this picture and my mind flooded with so many memories...c is one lucky girl. in addition to having us as parents and one awesome family and lots of friends, she gets to spend every weekday with her grandma. mom worked to put us through Christian school, so we went to our babysitter's house every day. both my grandmas worked too so we saw them in the evening or on weekends. my grandma cobb took mom and me shopping just about every Saturday. we went to eat breakfast at the same place and visited the same few stores. she was the grandma that bought practical stuff for Christmas, cooked pinto beans and cornbread every Sunday and fed the kids and men before herself. she passed away in 2004. my grandma sisson was an independent woman; very opinionated and proud of her figure even well into her 70s. she was an incredible baker. chocolate chip cookies and rolls were her specialties, as well as strawberry pie, chocolate pie, and the list goes on and on. while in college, she would send me a note ever so often and enclose $10 to buy cheese breadsticks. she passed away my senior year. after she died, i sat in the college library one day studying. needing a break, i was going through my bag and came across one of her notes...
it brought tears to my eyes and made me smile. i knew it was a note from heaven. she was ok. she was with our Jesus and she wanted to let me know. i miss my grandmas. it makes me sad too that c never had a chance to meet either of them. c's grandma is the only biological one she has. grandmother keaton passed away in 1999, so neither c nor i ever had the opportunity to meet her. so, i dedicate this one to you, mom - my friend, my confidant, my nanny...grandma. c, honey, you're one lucky girl.
p.s. c rolled over from tummy to back today. twice. by the time we got out the video camera, she had had enough and wouldn't do it again. maybe tomorrow.
