baby einstein.
penguin...i love penguin!
so, we finally busted out the ol' baby einstein around the world discovery center this past week and c LOVES it...i mean loves it! the first time i stuck her in it, the kid wouldn't stop smiling! she's still a little wobbly in it, but nothing a small blanket can't fix!
she's a happy girl!

my week.
this past week i stayed home with c. my babysitter was on vacation and my boss was out of town, so it was the perfect time for me to hang out with our girl. i envy you moms who get to stay home with your kids. although i can't stay home full-time with her right now, i don't take for granted the situation we're in. i'm thankful...but i still envy you...
before i married my hubby, i hardly ever stayed home during the day. shopping was how i de-stressed. matt, on the other hand, being my perfect complement, could lock himself inside for a week and be perfectly content...and since i've been around him for almost 8 years now, i've actually come to love staying home too. most days i even prefer it!
so, that's what c and i did a lot of - hanging out at home and just enjoying our time together, even though we did have a few outings.
monday...c and i went to pro-life day at the legislature and then i had to get a new phone. that evening we celebrated valentine's day with daddy. he brought me home the most beautiful boutique of roses and we had take-out chinese (we have an awesome chinese restaurant near our house).
tuesday...c went with me to an appointment and then we had lots of blanket time in between eating and napping.
wednesday...we celebrated my 33rd birthday. i used to take off from work on my birthday every year (well, at least try to) and go shopping. it was my day, i did what i wanted to. this year though, i didn't miss shopping one bit. rather, i spent the day with my girl and then matt took us out to dinner that evening. i did splurge and eat coca cola cake and some ice cream and it was sooo good (i haven't had ice cream for months). c has a milk protein sensitivity and i prayed my splurging was worth it...thankfully i think it was. she didn't scream from it (which means, hopefully, she's outgrowing it!).
thursday...we went for a couple of walks since it was almost 70 degrees out. c tried out her stroller for the first time (sitting in it alone rather than in the car seat) and loved it! that night c went to sleep on her back, as usual, but when i woke up in the middle of the night and checked on her, she was on her tummy. i flipped her over and of course, woke her up. she was up for 20 min. or so after that.
friday...c went to the doctor. she weighed 15.86 lbs! i told him about the middle of the night flipping and that i flipped her back over. his response, "what did you do that for?" being the paranoid of SIDS mother i am, i told him why. his response, "she'll be fine." so, no more middle of the night flippings. after taking daddy and his co-workers a coffee, we went home. which, by the way, have you tried mcdonald's oatmeal? it's so yummy! i got a couple coupons in the mail for a free one. i used them both friday morning.
after we got home, i worked on a budget and then mya, our little chihuahua, got sick...really sick. i called a friend at work who's a vet. he stopped by and checked her out. not to be gross, but those of you who have small dogs will understand - he told me her anal glands were full and could be making her sick. he expressed them and just told me to watch her. she was quite pathetic all evening. thankfully, by late evening, she hadn't thrown up anymore. we were still worried about her though because we didn't know for sure what was causing her sickness. she has a tendency to eat anything and everything.
saturday...we slept in...well at least until 7 or so. sometime during the night i got up and checked on c. she was on her tummy. and no, i didn't flip her over. she must've enjoyed it because she slept like a rock until 7:10 a.m. before i got c up though, i checked on mya. she was a little better but still acted like she didn't feel very well. i had decided friday night that if she wasn't better by morning, i was going to take her to the vet. well, after i fed c and thought about getting ready, mya was eating and wagging her tail. i was glad she was feeling better. i still don't know what made her sick though.
c and i went to gabe's in the p.m. i found the cutest 4th of July outfit for her, as well as a couple summer hats. i also found a pair of gap pants for $1.50 (for me!)!

i also made asparagus puree. i put some in the freezer in my new oxo tot baby food freezer tray. i did save her out a bit to try and she liked it. i got the "sweet potato" face at first, but she ate it.
it was nice being a stay home mom for 5 days. i didn't get much house work done, only a lot of a time spent with my girl and hubby...and i loved every minute of it.

happy v-day!
happy valentine's day! today c and i went to pro-life day at the legislature. in past years, i haven't gone, usually because of work. this year however, it was really on my heart to be there. i wanted us to stand for the unborn. i pray that people's hearts will change, even if it's just one. that's one more life. it was such a privilege to stand with others in the building and worship God. i'm thankful to Jesus for my beautiful gift from Him. she's such a blessing.
get this though - you moms will freak. while there, i saw someone i hadn't seen in a very long time, someone i used to go to church with. he's around kids a lot in his profession. anyways, while standing there talking to him, he reached down to touch c's hand. i thought, "omg, don't touch my kid's hands...i'll just clean it in a bit." well, not just did he touch her hand, he was going to stick his finger in her mouth!!!! i reached down to stop him and said something along the lines of don't do that, too many germs going around. by the time i got out a wipe to wipe her down though, her hands were already in her mouth. needless to say, i've prayed over the kid all day and told my hubby i have failed as a mother (yes, that's me being very dramatic). no more nice mommy. seriously, do people really stick their fingers in other kids' mouths? obviously so.
and lastly, i got a new phone today. i dropped mine several times over the past month or so. it was being held together with tape. well, last night i dropped it for the last time. the screen went out on it so i had to get a new one today. and...i lost all my numbers. so, if you would like for me to call you or send you a text (i now have unlimited texting), please call/text me so i'll have your number again.

maybe a 2?
c tried sweet potatoes for the first time today. on a scale of 1-10, she gave it maybe a 2. well, that's my guess considering she didn't spit it out...completely.
the second time around this p.m. was better...but after a few bites, i started getting this look again!
i'm pretty excited. don't ask me why i did this, but i ordered a couple make your own baby food cookbooks today. one is published by cooking light! the reviews on it were really good and it had a lot of adult friendly recipes in it. i mean, what could be so hard about making baby food? a vegetable or fruit, a blender and some mommy milk. oh well...it's the little things in life.

stuck.
almost every morning for the past week or so when i've gone in to get c up, she's been on her tummy! the first morning she rolled over, she wasn't too excited about it. now, i think she's kinda gotten used to it. this morning though, she was stuck. one arm was under her body and she couldn't get it out! so, this is how i found her...and quite content too...or she had just given up...whatever her reason, it gave me a good laugh and provided a cute pic!

losing touch.
today i went and visited a friend i haven't seen in years. it was so good to see her again. i pride myself in trying to be a good, faithful friend, but over the years, as i've gotten older and busier, i must admit, i've lost touch with several people that were near and dear. i'm going to work on that...
it was good to catch up; to share what's going on in each of our lives and what we've missed out on while apart. marriage. kids. dogs. parents. we talked about it all.
it was a good day. i took annual leave from work for 6 hours (what was the point of even going in, right?) but when i got back to work, i walked in with a smile on my face. knowing she's happy and i was happy to see her again. plus, i got a super cute haircut.
